变形龙画廊很荣幸可以呈现这次以虚拟的现实身体为主题的展览。在这次展览中, 艺术家们用不同的电子媒介,比如虚拟现实与增强现实,来探讨外在与主体在形式上,观念上,以及社会层面上的关系。展览中的作品不仅探讨了人类身体与电子媒介的关系,观众还可以实际体验身体成为虚拟的过程。
我们生活在一个不断被更多电子媒体入侵的时代,我们的身体同样也不断地被重新配置。身体被电子媒介的操纵这一话题已经有了很长时间的讨论。艺术家茅居一,赫南丹,和李汶锴通过视频艺术的方式,继续这一话题的挖掘。在茅居一的“无题”这一作品中,视频素材被并置与层叠,构成了一个新的讲述。而具体的文献提供了一种对身体,大众传媒,与欲望新的批判角度。赫南丹的作品则是从夸张化人类器官的角度出发,用来表达破碎的人的身体。李汶锴的作品“梦境”则是从精神层面来探讨人的身体。梦的空间对于李汶锴来说是和物理空间紧密相连的。
随着沉浸式媒体的发展,电子操纵在我们的日常生活变得越来越显著。在唐元的作品中,观众会坐在一张头发组成的椅子上来观看与头发有关的360视频内容。物理的毛发和虚拟的毛发在这个作品中重合。通过对毛发在社会中约定俗成的禁忌的挖掘,唐元挑战人们对虚拟的和物理的女性身体的认知。这个作品更像是一本关于艺术家个人亲密体验的日记,而不仅仅只是一个女权宣言。普瑞特那则是更加直接地批判科技对人类的影响。通过运用游戏语言,观众会看到一个个光怪陆离的虚拟场景。虚拟现实是一个展示方式,同时也成为了一个被批判的靶子。在查洛瓦提的虚拟现实作品“这一次不是一个地方”中,他从人类感知上来重新挖掘我们多重的感知体验。通过对虚拟与现实等多重空间的组合,查洛瓦提在这一新媒体中寻找身体的位置。
虚拟现实有着很强的冲击感,观众在艺术家建造的虚拟空间中,用他们的身体来感受与测量空间。虚拟现实在批判新兴电子科技对人类的影响之一话题上,是一个十分强大的媒介。不同于有着极强沉浸感到虚拟现实作品,郭楚夕的增强现实作品则通过一种极简的方式,来探讨身体与艺术品之间的关系。当观众靠近虚拟雕塑时,传感器会检测到人的身体,并改变虚拟雕塑的状态。郭楚夕的作品移除了绚烂的虚拟现实表皮,仅仅留下简单的视觉元素,来讨论关系美学在电子艺术中的应用。
身体一直在被电子媒介不断地解构与重组,而我们很难找到一个完整的组织。分裂的身体可能在逐渐地被虚拟化,然而我们不可以抛弃物理空间的紧密联系。虚拟与现实的二元对立在逐渐被消融开来,而身体则处在他们中间。

郭楚夕简介
Chuxi Guo (1990), born in Beijing, China. Now he lives and works in New York. He earned a B.A in sculpture from China Central Academy of Fine Arts and graduated from Rinehart School of Sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He uses video and video interactive devices as the main medium to expand various interactive boundaries of video art. By considering the viewers' sensitivity to the space and information of their bodies and identities, and by continuously enhancing or repeating, weakening or revoking the images of different identity groups, he tries to construct the possibilities of image interaction to find human identity, Self- awareness and possible political thinking.

茅居一简介
Juyi Mao is a filmmaker, writer, and composer. Born in Hefei, China, in 1991, Mao earned a Bachelor of Arts from Xiamen University in 2013, and an MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art with focuses on new media, critical theory, and cinema study. In his films, installations, and performances, Mao queries and investigates the relationships of people, space and objects within contexts of contemporary life and socio-political conditions. His video work has been screened and exhibited internationally, including Anthology Film Archives, New York City; CICA Museum, Gimpo; Space Camp, Baltimore; T Sheila & Richard Riggs Gallery, Baltimore; SANDAO Museum, Xiamen; among others. He lives and works in Long Island City, New York.

李汶锴简介
Wenkai Li was born in Shenzhen, China in 1993. She received her MFA in Photographic and Electronic Media from Maryland Institute College of Art (2018). She is a photographer and video creator. For now, she lives in Manhattan, New York.
In Wenkai’s artworks, she wants to talk about the relationship between the real world and the ideal world. She thinks the ideal world is always present form people’s spiritual and dreams are the continuation of life and diffusion of perception. So she always uses a dream as an entry point. Wenkai wants to create her own dreamland, which is fulfilled with her personal emotion and her understanding of time, space, and emotion.

赫南丹简介
Nandan Sam He (GuangDong, China 1991) is a multimedia artist whose work swings between interactive sculpture, mix media video/animation installation. By creating intimacy space, her work gravitates towards an immersive voyage that explores the contemporary self and reveals an irrational order of a hyper normalized social structure. She gains her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art, and MFA from Mount Royal School of Interdisciplinary Art. Her work has been exhibited in Yui Gallery, New York; Nocado Gallery, Long Island City; Elsewhere studio, Colorado; Sheila& Richard Riggs gallery, Baltimore; Maryland Federation of Art, Washington; Walter Otero Contemporary Art Gallery, San Juan, Puerto Rico; etc. She now lives and works in New York.
